The Many Benefits of Exercise and a Healthy Diet
Exercise not only affects weight loss, it also affects your energy levels, your stress levels and your state of mind. This is why both a balanced diet and a good exercise routine are a must if you wish to stay in shape. The key to maintaining a good weight is a healthy lifestyle. Those that wish to address their lifestyle issues need to first look at their daily routine, such as how regularly exercise is done and what is eaten on a day to day basis. The best way to do this is to draw a plate and split into sections of the different food groups you consume in a day. When this is completed take a look at the overall consumption of your diet. All meals should be carefully portioned out. Your daily intake should consist of: - Sources of protein – Beans, meat, eggs and fish
- Milk and dairy products –Yogurt and cheese
- Starchy foods – Bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes
- Fruit and vegetables – Bananas, apples, grapes, carrots, sweet corn etc..
Snacks are also important for your daily intake, however, this does not necessary mean junk food i.e. crisps or chocolate. Having healthy snacks such as dried fruit and smoothies are great in terms of their nutritional value. You might have heard of the term “keep you locked up for longer” the key to this is fibre and wholegrain foods, so also try snacking on dried or roasted unsalted nuts. This should be on a consistent basis as our lifestyles generally determine what we do most commonly and habits tend to lead to addiction. There are various tips available that will help you exercise more regularly if followed, including the likes of starting off at a slow pace and gradually building up this pace over the weeks and months. Exercising too hard and too long initially will only result in injury or you failing to finish the workout. Overcome boredom by mixing up your workouts. Instead of just opting for the same mundane activity every time you work out, check out the many classes available at your local gym. Try spinning classes, dancing, swimming or yoga as an alternative to simply jumping on an exercise machine. Finding an enjoyable activity is a great idea to keep in-shape, others include roller dancing, rock climbing or even salsa dancing. This way you are motivated to participate in a fun activity of your choice and they won’t even feel like exercise, yet they’ll still work to burn those unwanted calories! Make sure to also opt for a mix of cardiovascular exercises as well as strengthening and stretching workout methods. Cardiovascular exercises include the likes of walking, jogging and riding a bike. Muscle strengthening routines come in the form of body weight exercise, yoga, Pilates and weight lifting.Exercising at the same time of day will also help you stick to a routine as well as to manage other responsibilities without either clashing. Maintaining a healthy glow is also a thing to look after. Vitamin D will give you a clear complexion and healthier looking skin.
